Meet our adorable Wonda and her daughter Winnie,

Rescuers first saw Wonda going through a trash can looking for food at a tourist center in Taichung. Wonda picked up some chicken bone and went away. We followed her wanting to give her some food and found that she was feeding the chicken bone to Winnie. Looking at Wonda closely, Winnie probably is her daughter, but there should also be other puppies. We fed them some canned dog food, and went to ask the Information Center whether Wonda and Winnie belonged to anyone living close by. We were informed that these two dogs were brought here in a car and abandoned there about three months ago. They have been wondering around there since then. The people that brought them there even said that, they left Wonda and Winnie there because there are a lot of visitors and eventually someone will pity them and take them home. Hearing this really made us angry!!

Wonda is a very gentle mother, also very protective of her child. They have to be very careful wondering in this area full of people. Some people would lure them with food but once they get close, they will be beaten. Of course, there were some nice people who fed them, but, having been beaten by people from time to time, Wonda became very alert. If Winnie gets close to humans, Wonda would bark very loud as if she was warning Winnie not to trust humans. Gradually, they lost trust in people and chose to survive by looking for food in the trash cans.

That day, when we got close to them and took the chicken bones away, Wonda and Winnie didn’t get angry or went away. They were probably very sad that their only food was taken away from them. However, once we gave them the canned dog food, they started wagging their tails and ate the food happily. Nearby shop owners were very surprised because, it’s been a long time since Wonda and Winnie were willing to eat the food given by people. Besides willing to eat the food we gave them, Wonda and Winnie let us pet them for a long time and they didn’t hesitate to get into our car.

They were very quiet on the way to the vet. When the vet was examining them, they behave very well too. When we took them home, we observed them. They are actually very gentle, outgoing and loves to cuddle with people. They have not lost their trust in people, they had to protect themselves when they were wandering in the streets.

Winnie is very depended on her mother, they have been keeping each other company for such a long time. Therefore, we hope that they can both be adopted by the same family. If not, we will still put the adoption request on our list.

We are looking for a patient and responsible family to give Winnie a forever loving home! If you’re interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website.
