Up until 2-3 months of age, all Ives knew was fear and pain. Ives, his mom and siblings were beaten by their owner everyday. Since a very young age, all they knew about people was terror and violence. They closed their hearts to people until they were rescued. In the beginning, everything or sound terrified them. Watching this, made our hearts ache.
After 3 months at the foster home, Ives is very used to homelife. He is a sweet boy who loves to snuggle with people. He is quite happy at home, but he was still afraid to be in the outside world, and he would need to have an anti-slip leash when out on a walk (and with close supervision at first). Compared to being outside, he loves playing in the yard and in the house. When it comes to dogs that have been abused or neglected, a good dose of patience, understanding, and determination would be most welcomed. We think that he will do well in a family with a fenced yard and/or a playmate. He does not need an very active family, just one who loves him and wants him around. He will do very well in a family with other dogs, which will help him adjust faster! Ives gets along with cats too. He does not have any resource or food guarding behaviors towards other people, dogs, and cats.
Now our lovely Ives braved the 14-hour long flight and is settling in Portland, OR. He is patiently waiting for his forever family who would love and care for him. If you are interested in adopting Ives, please reach out to us. We would be more than happy to tell you all about him.
